We Embrace You Lord

“…God is love.”

1 John 4:8

“I am… the truth…”

John 14:6

God is spirit, and His worshippers must worship in The Spirit and truth.”

John 4:24

“The Lord is a warrior.

Yahweh is His name.” Exodus 15:3

Recently, I have become very aware of how I pick parts of God to love and pursue at the expense of other parts of who He is. As I read through scripture and study our wonderful Savior, I see One who is multifaceted in His glory and majesty. He is love, He is truth, He is spirit, He is a warrior, and much more.

When I was in college I was in agreement with a spirit of rebellion. I loved the love of God, welcomed people prophesying to me with encouragement, and genuinely adored His presence. But I honestly did not like when people told me what to do or corrected me. And I almost totally neglected obedience to the voice God in my life. I was a compromised Christian and my faith was weak. I was accepting Him as love and spirit but was neglecting the fact that He is truth and a warrior.

Previously, there were people in my life that had abused the use of truth and a warrior mentality. And in my flesh, I sinned and chose to reject all who stood strong on the truth or exhibited a warrior mentality. In truth, I was rejecting parts of God Himself.

In His incredible grace, He has brought me back into alignment with Him and is leading me on the path to embrace Him in His fullness.

We must be uncompromising in embracing Him as love, truth, spirit, and as a warrior.

I am sure like me, you have been hurt or have seen others fail because they twisted or abused a part of the nature of God. I want plead with you to not let a human’s shortcoming lead you to reject a part of who God is. When we face Him at the end of this age I don’t want to find that I rejected any part of who He is. I don’t want to find out that I didn’t love all of Him. And I want to spend my whole life pursuing being like Him in His fullness.

He is wonderful and perfect. He can be both love and a warrior at the same time. And by the power and leading of Holy Spirit we can and must pursue being like Him. We can be love and warriors at the same time. We can relentlessly love people and mercilessly punch the devil in the throat.

We can love God as truth and spirit! We don’t have to neglect faith and the gifts on the altar of truth. No! The same God who caused the 120 at the Upper Room to get drunk on His Spirit is also the one who gave His word to us.

Embrace Him in His fullness. Remember, this is not about balance either. Worldly wisdom would tell you to only pursue so much of Him in spirit so as to not compromise truth. No, He is infinite and we must jump into the depths of who He is in all His ways.

Jesus is worthy of your full pursuit of Him. forgive those people that hurt you. Repent from the inner vows you’ve made in your heart saying, “I’ll never be like him or her,” and unashamedly follow Jesus. Enough compromise. Enough blaming and idolizing others. Follow Jesus.

The world needs the body of Christ to be the body. They need us to say “yes” to all of Him. No compromise. No compromise! And no mixture from the world.

You Jesus and only You!
